Our Mission

REACHING GENERATIONS FOR CHRIST

"... to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen." Ephesians 3:21

our growth path

We believe that as followers of Jesus, we should strive to become more like Him. Our growth path at Gateway lays out clear next steps on our journey of faith. Where are you on the path?

WORSHIP - ATTEND A SUNDAY SERVICE

We EXALT God in Worship every week when we gather corporately to orient our lives around Jesus and recommit ourselves to Him through theologically rich music, spirit-dependent prayer, reading of scripture, and preaching.

CONNECT - JOIN A LIFE GROUP

We ENCOURAGE one another in Life Groups through the nurturing of meaningful fellowship, the study of scripture, and prayer. We need each other to grow spiritually. Our desire is for every person at Gateway to find others to share their lives with by praying for one another, discussing God’s Word and applying it to their lives.

SERVE - VOLUNTEER AT GATEWAY

We EQUIP Christians to discover, develop, and use their spiritual gifts and special abilities to serve in the church, Staten Island, and the world. Serving transforms us as well as the people we serve. Our hope is that everyone at Gateway finds a place to serve in our church and in our community, while developing a heart for Missions around the globe.

GROW - PRACTICE SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINES

We Establish Christ followers in the faith by helping them engage with God through regular scripture reading and prayer as an essential part of spiritual growth. In addition, teaching, training, and resources that enhance your personal growth are offered throughout the year to help our people become strong in the faith, learn key areas of theology and practice, and also address questions and contemporary issues.

SHARE - INVITE SOMEONE TO CHURCH

We encourage believers to ENGAGE with people and introduce them to a personal transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. We intentionally PRAY for people who don’t know Jesus, INVEST in their lives, and INVITE them to take steps toward a personal faith in Jesus. We offer resources to help you easily invite friends, neighbors & co-workers to church.

Our Core beliefs

We are committed to the historic Christian faith as handed down to us by the apostles and preserved for us in Scripture. We are an interdenominational, evangelical church that lives by the motto: "In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, love."

The Authority of the Bible - The Bible is a divine product of the Spirit of God working in

and through the human authors. The Bible is true in all that it intends to say and is the reliable and authoritative guide for our faith. (Ps. 19:7-14; Ps 119; Matt. 5:17-20; John 17:17; 1 Thess. 2:13; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; Heb. 1:1; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

The Trinity - God is three Persons, each Person is fully God; there is one God. (Gen. 1:26;

Gen. 3:22; Deut. 6:4-5; Ps 91:2; Matt. 1:23; Matt. 3:16-17; Matt. 28:18-20; John 1:1-5; 2 Cor.

3:16-18; 2 Cor. 13:14)

The Reality of Sin - All of humanity is infected with sin by inheritance and by practice, and

as a result is condemned before God apart from Christ. (Is. 64:6; Rom. 2:14-16; Rom. 3:23;

Rom. 5:18; 1 Cor. 15:22)

The Person of Christ Jesus - Christ is fully God and fully human existing in one person.

He is the God-man. (Jn. 1:1-3; Col. 1:16,17; Matt. 1:18-25; Rom. 8:3; Gal. 4:4-5; Heb. 2:17-18;

Phil. 2:6-8)

The Work of Christ - Jesus died as our innocent substitute to satisfy both the justice and the love of God. (Rom. 3:21-25; 1 Cor. 15:3; 2 Cor. 5:20-21; Heb. 2:9; 1 Peter 1:17-21; Jn. 1:12-13; Jn. 3:16; Jn. 6:44, 65; Eph. 2:8-9; Phil. 1:29; Phil. 2:12-13)

The Way of Salvation - Salvation is God's grace enabling us to place our trust in the death

and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins. (Jn. 1:12-13; Jn. 3:16; Eph. 2:1-10; 1 Jn. 5:1; Titus 3:3-7; Rom. 8:1; Eph. 1:5; Rom. 8:15, 23; Gal. 4:4-5; Rom. 8: 28-39; 1 Cor. 1:8; Eph. 1:13-14; Phil. 1:6; 1 Peter 5:10-11; Jude 24-25; Acts 11:18; 2 Tim. 2:25; Jn. 17:11-12)

The Return of Christ - Jesus Christ will return bodily to earth a second time to set up an

eternal, perfect, and physical kingdom. (Matt. 24-25; John 14:1-6; Acts 1:11; Col. 3:1-4; 1Thess. 4:13-18; Titus 2:11-13; Rev. 21-22)
